Make sure that the draft articles you submit to Diversity News Magazine are 100% original, meaning that the content was not published anywhere else on the internet (that includes your personal blog or website).

WORD LIMIT:

Please try to keep your article within the 550 – 1500 words range. Anything over 1500 words is difficult to read, and it may be a better idea to split the content across multiple articles.

LANGUAGE & TONE:

Please refrain from any offensive or negative tone that may demotivate or discourage our readers. Try to keep it warm and positive. If you’re writing on a sensitive topic, make sure it is not biased and that the facts are checked. It is very important the all contributors must write as 3rd person. You are allowed to write as 1st person, when writing an opinion article, a product or service review. Remember by writing as 1st person you are giving your opinion on a product or service.

WRITING STYLE:

At DiversityNewsMagazine.org, formerly DiversityNewsMagazineDotcom we follow the Associated Press style. The Associated Press is an American multinational nonprofit news agency headquartered in New York City that operates as a cooperative, unincorporated association. Freelancers should follow AP style when writing their stories for us. We will make any slight adjustments in the few areas we deviate from AP style, if it is necessary.

WRITING FORMAT:

DiversityNewsMagazine.org formerly DiversityNewsMagazineDotcom Staff and Contributors/Reporters writing format is by utilizing the Five W’s and one H. What are the Five W’s and One H? They are: Who, What, Why, When, Where and How. Why are the Five W’s and One H important? Journalism purists will argue your story isn’t complete until you answer all six questions. It’s hard to argue this point, since missing any of these questions leaves a hole in your story. Even if you’re not reporting on the news of the day, this concept could be useful in many professional writing scenarios.

  • Multiple sources. A minimum of two sources. A 450-word story should have no fewer than two sources; a 800-word story should have no fewer than three sources. Occasionally, some short Diversity News Magazine stories/articles have just one source, but that is rare. Bottom line: Do thorough reporting.

  • Diverse sources. DiversityNewsMagazine.org formerly DiversityNewsMagazineDotcom has a worldwide circulation in the internet. We are based in Hollywood, California but we are expanding to major cities of the United States and abroad. So it’s important to us that our sources reflect our readership. Freelancers don’t have to hit every county we cover, but they should have sources from more than one. And the more counties covered, the better.

  • Sidebars. Any story 1,000 words or more should have at least one sidebar. Sometimes it’s an info box referring readers to more information from a local organization. Sometimes it’s a list of tips related to the story’s subject. Readers like having information broken up for them and they enjoy multiple points of entry into a story, so we value freelancers who are mindful of that.

REVISIONS:

We want you to tell your story in your own words. So we will only edit your article for clarity, punctuation, spelling, and grammar. We also reserve the right to change the title of the piece.

PHOTOS:

A photo release will be required for any photos that are submitted. You (or your photographer, if applicable) will retain all rights to the photos you submit, but Holl & Lane retains the right to use any submitted photos to promote your article and the magazine on social media, the blog, our website, or other materials. Photo credit will always be given to the creator. We will not alter the photos other than to resize them to conform to image size specifications for the magazine, social media, and other materials.

SUBMISSION:

  • The Assignment Desk Editor is who selects, develops and plans reporting assignments, either news events or feature stories, to be covered by contributors/reporters. He/She will provide instructions for your article/story will be provided when you are notified of your pitch/assignment selection. If you are having trouble with the submission system, please contact the editorial team at stories@diversitynewsmagazine.org. In addition, all content and photos must be submitted together in one submission.

Esteban A. Escobar (born in El Salvador, Central America on September 6th and U.S. Naturalized on May 20, 2015) is a multi-award winning American journalist, reporter, editor, columnist, writer, producer, director, publicist, radio personality, entrepreneur, accounts receivable specialist, humanitarian and philanthropist.

Steven Escobar started Diversity News Publications when he saw the word Diversity in an office and it’s meaning, he them decided to call his company Diversity News Publications and started branding the name Diversity News. Steven Escobar goal is to promote and raise awareness of Diversity and Inclusion. For those reasons Steven Escobar is known as the man from Diversity.

Esteban is known as Steven Escobar. He is the former Founder, CEO, President & Executive Editor-In-Chief of Diversity News Magazine Dot Com, an online & special print consumer news magazine both are available worldwide and are viewed freely by millions of visitors each month.

On 7-10-2015, Steven Escobar founded and is the CEO, President and Executive Producer of Diversity News Magazine Awards which launched on 11-5-2016 by sponsoring Diversity Pageants special awards. Also on 7-10-2015, Steven Escobar unveiled the launch of new media outlet named Miss Diversity News Beauty Pageants Magazine.

On November 2013, Steven Escobar founded and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Diversity Professional Business & Media Solutions Group, a company to help small businesses to be compliant with changes in technology and have a presence online. On July 2013 Steven Escobar founded and is the CEO of Diversity Recovery Systems, a professional consulting and account receivables third party company specializing in healthcare medical collections.

Esteban “Steven” Escobar is also the executive producer and director of Diversity News TV, the host of Diversity News Radio, on Air with Steven Escobar, and the Founder, CEO and President of Diversity News Publications, a news/entertainment multimedia firm in Hollywood, CA. Also in 2011 Steven Escobar raised money for The Life Group LA. Steven Escobar has volunteered for Exotifit For Humanity now known as We Care for Humanity and The Human Rights Campaign Los Angeles Steering Committee.

Steven was nominated for The Shorty Awards 2011 and the People’s Choice Fan Award 2012. In 2012 Steven Escobar received the Humanitarian Award at the 2012 International Noble Awards. Also on June 2, 2012 Steven Escobar Received the Community and Humanitarian Services Award at Kayamanan Bayan for all his contributions to the Filipino American community in Southern California.

On March 1, 2014 Steven Escobar received the following awards from City of Beverly Hills Mayor John A. Mirisch: The Diversity Award Certificate of Recognition from the City of Beverly Hills Mayor and City Council, and the County of Los Angeles by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles and City of Los Angeles Certificate of Recognition signed by the Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti for his participation and contributions to the Multicultural Motion Picture Association (MMPA).

On 7-23-2014, Esteban Steven Escobar’s publication Diversity News Magazine by Steven Escobar was nominated for The 2014 LGBT Hero Awards as Online Magazine of the Year 2014.

Also on November 22, 2014 Steven Escobar received a Certificate of Appreciation for his publication Diversity News Magazine from the City of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti for the contribution and help to the 26th Annual Miss Asia USA and Mrs. Asia USA Cultural Pageants held at Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach, CA.

Well, money is not the issue here. The issue is that Mr. Donald J. Trump thinks he is beyond the law and he doesn’t have to follow it.

Let me share my little story and what I have been told since I arrived to America. I became a naturalized US Citizen on May 20, 2015 and I was able to do so by living by the rules and following the laws, learning the language, working hard, filing/paying state and federal taxes, and being a good person. After 25 years I become a naturalized US Citizen.

My point here why Mr. Trump feels he can break the rules especially the US Constitution set and signed by our Founding Fathers of the United States?

I want to ask you and do the right thing this time. I know when president George W. Bush you refused to start impeachment process. Well this time, I urge and ask you to start the impeachment process against the worse president of the USA who is a scammer, con artist, traitor, thief, liar, racist, sick, cheater, corrupt and more. You know I am talking about Donald J. Trump who won the elections by cheating and working with Russian to interference in the 2016 United States elections.

So on the next congress assembly I ask you before Mr. Trump walk in you tell congress that you have a “Motion” and is “Impeachment” and the you want them to start on it now. The members of congress they know whom you want the impeachment and they know what they have to do next.

You tell members of congress to take away everything from the fake president, evict him and his family as well his puppets and give them 24 hours to vacate the premises. Mr. Trump has created shell companies overseas and have been transferring/wiring money from the US Treasure Department. He is stealing the US people money because he knows he may be lock up in jail for been the corrupted president of the USA. Don’t allow him to finish his term that will be a huge mistake on your part.

Currently you have lot of favoritism with the American people because of your toughness and be straight forward to the fake president. If you show your weakness the American people will ask member of congress to select another speaker of the house.

Also congratulations for owning The Washington Post. Once again congratulations to be another Steve Jobs genius with so many ventures and becoming one of the billionaires of the world.

Unfortunately Google changed the rules so money been very slow. You can’t even survive with the pennies they pay you for displaying ads. You as publisher of the Washington Post must know it since print is almost dead and online is having too much competition and revenue has increased. The cost of living keeps increasing every year and salaries are not.

So, I jointed your Amazon Flex program on May 2018 and sometimes is great but no benefits and lots of gas expenses and car tear and wear. Not sure if you know how your stations were set up but I will give you a brief summary. In the Los Angeles County, you have East Los Angeles (DLA3) – Commerce area, Rosemead (DPS1) – El Monte area, Hawthorne – LAX area, Chino, Canoga Park – San Fernando Valley area, Irvine – Orange County area. As you may see what motivates a person to sign up for Amazon Flex is the area they are supposed to be serving. I sign up with Amazon Flex when I was living in Cudahy, CA. At the time I got Palm Springs which is very far. However later I found out of Canoga Park. I went and I did two blocks the same day.
Later I found there was one in East Los Angeles – Commerce area. I contacted support and they did the change and say that the program was open to regions and don’t need to swift because it

will show up on the app. My Amazon Flex app is set to Greater Los Angeles region. So I started to do East LA, Rosemead, Irvine and Chino stations.
Here is the issue that needs to be fixed at your stations. Last year I started to get routes from Rosemead to Orange County. I did some but because I do have a life and live in the San Gabriel Valley area I expect to work in the area not been sent over 30 miles to Orange County where I have no business to do. So I have declined couple blocks. Because your staff at the station are unprofessional and uncooperative I been trying other stations like East LA. Well they are doing the same thing sending a person away from the area. Not sure if you know what is considered East LA area? Or San Gabriel Valley area?

In the past Rosemead has sent us to La Habra, Fullerton those areas are Orange County which belongs to Irvine station. Rosemead has sent us to North Hollywood, Compton!
North Hollywood belongs to Canoga Park and Compton belowns to Hawthorne stations. Your
management needs training in geography. By the way they can save your company lots of $$$$$
if they stop doing that because that make us go over the block time and your company needs to
pay extra money

FYI, recently the Superior Court of the County of Los Angeles ruled in favor of independent
contractors that a company like you can not set quotas or force an independent contractor to do something that they don’t wish because that will make us your employees. I don’t mind to become an Amazon employee so if that what you want let your management to do so.

Amazon Flex Temple City – Rosemead Drivers Boycott Station

On Saturday, February 9, 2019 lots of Amazon Flex Rosemead evening shots did not show up for their 4, 5, 6 and 7 pm blocks because they have been sent far and over the San Gabriel Valley area where they sign up to deliver packages.

Amazon Flex Temple City – Rosemead has been abusing them by sending them drive all over the Lia Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and more without adding extra compensation. Yes Amazon Flex has been paying $18 and hour but the drivers has to deal with tear and wear on their cars, gas, miles, dark nights, cold, raining and hot days with no perks or benefits.

Amazon Flex drivers are not getting pay extra during the evening, weekends or holidays which a billion company like Amazon should pay to their employees or partners in this case Amazon Flex individual partners. Companies are supposed to pay extra for weekends, evening and holidays. Do you know some companies even pay more to those employees that work during those times them their 7 to 4, 8 to 5, 9 to 6 employees.

Amazon Flex do not like for Amazon Flex to give packages when they know those are opposite direction from their main route and If you return them at the end of the block they question you by been mad.

On top of that If you decide to finish your block even though you went over they don’t even want to pay you extra. If they pay you they pay you regular hourly rate but in some cases you took a surge so they need to pay at those rates.

Yes Amazon Flex has been treating better the Amazon Flex business partners because they have a van and a business but the fact is that they are doing the same work except they can take more packages but they have a week to deliver them. So if you a consumer and don’t get your packages on tine call Amazon and ask for reimbursement on delivery fee also be mindful that Amazon is discriminating the hard working individual people. Amazon Flex was suppose to be a fun and relaxing gig but it has become stressful Which is making drivers sick. Amazon flex drivers don’t get breaks or lunch time even don’t have a place to pee and poo.

Perhaps Amazon Flex drivers should start a class action lawsuit against giant internet company Amazon, Jeff Bezos, their investors and board of directors? like it was ruled by a judge recently in Los Angeles county against Lyft that their drivers are not contractors when they are forced to do quotas and lots or rules that they need to follow while working in the logistics business. You must clean off the mildew in the soonest possible time. You should open the tent fully and clean it with a Lysol (or any other) cleaning solution, just make the Lysol cleaning solution about one cup to one gallon of hot water.

With a sponge, dub this hot solution onto the tent, let it stay a bit and then rinse it off with a lemon solution. After that, just let the tent dry in the sun, making sure to straighten out all the folds so that the sun gets to all places.

Cleaning a tent that smells

When you pack a wet tent and let it stay too long, mildew (as explained above) can form a nasty smell on the tent. Believe it or not, nothing is nastier than a tent that smells! You have to get rid of the smell because if you do not, you will never use that tent again.

There are many causes of a smelly tent. One, it could be the usual dirt and grime of which there is more than a fair share when camping. Secondly, it could be mold and mildew and thirdly, it could be the polyurethane breaking down (mostly happens with old tents).

Hang the tent to dry through the smell. That is right, a clothesline and pegs. You can then take the tent through the cleaning procedure for taking off the mildew and the mold. However, after that, you will have to clean the tent specifically to get rid of the smell.

A vinegar mixture (homemade) is a good remedy for odor. So is a store-bought enzyme cleaner, and there are many of these. Because bacteria usually cause the nasty smell, the enzyme cleaner is going to kill the bacteria. Just wear gloves to protect your hands. Also,ensure the enzyme cleaner is organic so that it doesn’t eat through your tent. The best mixture should be a half-ounce of enzyme cleaner to 20 gallons of water.

Give your tent some good aftercare

Dry the tent under the sun, and then do proper sealing of the seams, and … you may have to reapply a polyurethane coating, if it was worn out.

The Hollywood Christmas Parade is an annual parade that takes place on the Sunday after Thanksgiving in the Hollywood community in Los Angeles, California, United States. 

The parade follows a 3.5-mile (5.6 km) route along Hollywood Boulevard, then back along Sunset Boulevard and features various celebrities among its participants.

Singer and Songwriter Chaka Khan Named 2019 Grand Marshal of the 130th Rose Parade Presented by Honda

PASADENA, Calif. (October 17, 2018) – Singer, songwriter, and philanthropist Chaka Khan was announced today as the 2019 Grand Marshal by Tournament of Roses® President Gerald Freeny. Chaka will ride in the 130th Rose Parade® presented by Honda, themed “The Melody of Life” and join in the pre-game celebration of the 105th Rose Bowl Game® presented by Northwestern Mutual both are held on January 1, 2019. As an added bonus for millions of viewers around the world, Chaka is scheduled to perform in the parade’s Opening Spectacular.

Chaka is one of the most celebrated musicians with a rich musical legacy. As a singer, songwriter, actor, author, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, Chaka has influenced generations of entertainers. She has the rare ability to sing in seven music genres, including R&B, pop, rock, gospel, country, world music and classical.  Affectionately known around the world as Chaka, she is respected by millions of fans as well as her peers for her timeless, classic and unmatched signature music style and ability. Throughout her legendary career, Chaka has released 22 albums and ten #1 Billboard magazine charted songs. However, the song that propelled her to stardom was the 1984 chart-topping, GRAMMY® award-winning song, “I Feel For You,” written and first performed by Prince.
