Breaking News: Miss Universe Organization Statement on Miss USA and Miss Universe Beauty Pageants

MISS USA AND MISS UNIVERSE THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

As you may have seen earlier today Monday, June 29, 2015 our breaking news story on NBCUniversal dropping Miss USA and Miss Universe beauty pageants from the networks due to the derogatory statements on Immigrants made by it’s co-owner and producer Mr. Donald J. Trump. Also Mexico’s Televisa  and Carlos Slim from Ora TV ends relationship with Miss Universe.

To be fair and heard both sides, we contacted Miss Universe Organization in New York, NY to get a statement and here is what we received, you can see it and read below their statement. You can read that Miss Universe Organization (MUO) is trying to separate from Mr. Donald J. Trump Sr.

The 2015 MISS USA® Pageant will still take place in Baton Rouge on July 12th. We are disheartened by recent events but the show will go on.

The Miss Universe Organization operates as an independent company. In its 64 year history, and under many owners, Miss Universe has developed into a globally recognized brand, with nearly 150 franchise holders domestically and internationally, the majority of whom are small business owners.

The Miss Universe Organization is built on a foundation of inclusion and continues to be a celebration of diversity and of all cultures. This year’s Miss USA contestants represent many different ethnic backgrounds, including six Latinas (four of whom are of Mexican descent).

Annually, nearly ten thousand young women all around the world participate in MISS UNIVERSE pageant events. We continue to welcome those from all backgrounds to enter our system. Our franchisees work tirelessly every day to empower young women to be confident and to be their personal best while raising awareness and millions of dollars for philanthropic endeavors.

While world politics and other influences will undoubtedly play a role, the pageant will always seek to transcend controversy. It is unfortunate that recent events beyond our control have only served to negatively impact the women who participate in the pageant, our state directors, our sponsors and our fans. We want our supporters to know we remain committed to them and we will be conducting the pageant, regardless of the current situation. We are moving forward, full-steam ahead as planned for the next two weeks, culminating in the crowning of a new Miss USA on July 12th .

EDITOR’S NOTE: You see the show must go on. Here at Diversity News Magazine, Diversity News TV and Diversity News Radio we will try to keep you updated on any news developments and possible coverage of Miss USA and Miss Universe. If a network picks the broadcast will you consider to watch them? of if they broadcast the show online? Will you watch? Please leave your comments.

Wardrobe Spring Cleaning

Wardrobe Spring Cleaning

The weather is warming up, people are starting to spend more time outdoors, and it’s about to be everyone’s favorite time of year. With spring just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about your spring cleaning. And while cleaning out your oven is essential, it’s not that interesting to read about. So we’re going to take a look at another, often neglected area of spring cleaning, cleaning out your wardrobe.

When was the last time you went through your clothes and decided to get rid of all of those clothes you never wear? Can’t remember? You’re not alone. Many of us just let the clothes pile up over time with the thought that hey, we’ll wear this old shirt again someday, right? Wrong. You need to cut the cord and realize that the clothes you don’t like now, you’re never going to like. Spring cleaning is the time to be judicious, and that means taking a hard look at what should stay and what should go. Need some help getting started? We’ve put together a little checklist to guide you along the way. Check it out:

Start with the Basics
Need a place to start? Go for the socks, tee shirts, and underwear drawer, as these are the items that tend to go unnoticed for the longest time. And trust us, you don’t want to let them go that long. In most cases, you could use a refresher on your socks and underwear. Instead of just getting the same plastic package from the department store, treat yourself to something a little higher quality this time around. Try something like VK Nagrani designer underwear that you’ll actually enjoy wearing. With higher quality materials, more interesting styles, and a more flattering cut, you won’t miss your old undies, we promise.

Move into Outerwear
Once you’ve covered the basics, you should move into your outerwear collection. As the weather is getting warmer and you’re going to be moving your jackets to the back of the closet, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about which items are worth storing, and which are just taking up space. If you live somewhere exceptionally cold, we understand holding onto a few extra layers for the sake of warmth, but for most people, if you have more than four jackets, you’re probably never wearing them. Do yourself a favor and toss the ones that you haven’t taken out in years. They’re just a bulky waste of space, and the people at Goodwill can give them to someone who will appreciate them much more.

Judge Your Footwear
Out of everything in your wardrobe, your shoes tend to age the fastest. With the constant contact with rain, pavement, dirt, and grime, your shoes show their age very quickly and very noticeably. While you might have broken in your favorite pair, they probably don’t have the same luster they did when you bought them. It’s ok to say goodbye to your shoes, they were never made to last forever.

When in Doubt, Toss It
The golden rule of spring wardrobe cleaning, if there is such a thing, is that when you’re not sure if you should hold onto something or not, you shouldn’t. Donating your old clothes and shoes is a therapeutic exercise and helps set the stage for becoming the person you want to be. In the spirit of spring renewal, starting over with a new wardrobe is refreshing. You’ll be relieved of that guilty feeling when you see a shirt you haven’t worn in ages, and you’ll make room for some new things to freshen up your look.

Why Online Bingo is So Popular

Why Online Bingo is So Popular
Online Bingo - Diversity News MagazinePeople have such a huge choice when it comes to playing online games, it may come as a surprise to find out that more than 100 million people are registered on different online bingo sites around the world.

And whereas bingo used to have a reputation for being an old people’s game, according to information released by Tablet Bingo, it appears that bingo players are getting progressively younger. In 2003, 46% of players were under the age of 45, but in 2013, that figure had increased to 62%. Far from being an old people’s game, it would seem that bingo is now a game for the youngsters amongst us.

Why is it then, when there’s such a variety of games to choose to play online – and many of them for free – that so many people make the decision to sign up to play a game you have to pay to join in, and then only have such a small chance of winning?

There are lots of reasons why people choose bingo over other games. Here are just a few of them.

Bingo OnlineSimplicity is the key

When you choose to play an online game, you don’t necessarily want to tire out your brain cells to do so. There are plenty of times when playing an online game is more about being entertained than having to put your thinking cap on. For example, if you’ve had a busy and stressful day at work, or you’ve been at home with the kids and they’ve been asking you questions all day, it’s sometimes nice to have a game that you can zone out with, and bingo allows you to do just that.

The game has always been easy to play. In the bingo hall version, you’d listen to the number calls and mark off your cards as quickly as possible in order to be the first to shout bingo. Online, you only have to choose a game and the card (or cards) you wish to buy. The software does the number daubing for you; leaving you free to sit back and relax. The only tension you might feel is if your card is getting filled up and it looks like you might win – but that’s an exciting kind of stress!

We all like value for money

Although we might be willing to pay for our online gaming fix, we all appreciate getting good value for money – and that’s just what you get at the major online bingo sites like Winner Bingo and Instant Bingo. At Winner Bingo, for example, as well as offering a welcome bonus to new players who make a first deposit, there are also plenty of free games included in the round-the-clock schedule. Although the games are free, they still lead to real money jackpots, so they are always worth joining in. It’s the same on most of the major bingo sites – free games are a way of rewarding customer loyalty and ensuring that players won’t move to a different site.

You get to chat too

Part of the fun of playing online bingo is that as you don’t need to concentrate on the game, you get to socialise while you play. That’s why bingo is such a popular choice. You may find yourself at a loose end, bored with no-one to talk to – login to your favourite bingo site and you’ll have more company than you know what to do with in a matter of moments. Bingo chat rooms always have a fun atmosphere, thanks to the presence of a chat moderator as well as the other players. And when things get a little quiet, the moderator will often start off some chat games where you might win extra cash or a free entry to another bingo game.

For all these reasons and more, it’s not so surprising that so many people around the world enjoy bingo today.

The 19th Annual MMPA Oscar Week Luncheon To Hosts Celebs and Stars at Afternoon Affair

On Friday, January 20, 2012 The Multicultural Motion Picture Association announced their upcoming 19th Annual MMPA Oscar® Week luncheon where Academy Award nominees past and present, including Producers, Directors, Film Editors, Actors, Costume Designers, and past honorees are expected to come out for a star-studded afternoon of camaraderie and praise for young up-and-coming film talent.

This year the event will be held at the Sofitel Hotel Los Angeles located at 8555 Beverly Boulevard in Beverly Hills, CA 90048 on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 12:00pm.

Per event producers as in previous years, the 19th Annual MMPA Oscar Week Luncheon will be among the highlights of the week’s activities leading up to the Oscars and the MMPA’s annual luncheon will again be among the hottest tickets in town, this year made even hotter by the buzz surrounding many Golden Globe winners and potential Academy nominees already slated to attend this star-studded affair.

“After a solid year of burgeoning creative accomplishments on the part of our diverse film community, it continues to be inspiring to see the level of Hollywood talent who continue to express their desire to be a part of this afternoon of philanthropy and giving.” said Jarvee Hutcherson, President of The  Multicultural Motion Picture Association (MMPA).

The prestigious organization of actors, cinematographers, editors, writers, and directors has in the past played host to an array of celebrities and nominees from Salma Hayek, Robert DeNiro, Kate Winslet and Djimon Hounsou to Sandra Bullock, Denzel Washington, and Leonardo DiCaprio among others.

Last year at the 18th Annual MMPA 2011 Oscar Week Luncheon Civic Awards were presented to Kate Linder ( Actress, Philanthropist), Edward Lozzi ( Publicist, Edward Lozzi & Associates), Renee’ Valente (Producer, Valente Productions), Michelle Phillips (Actress, Singer) and A.C. Lyles(Paramount Pictures). Each civic honoree gave a speech after receiving their award, but the one who received an outstanding ovation was A.C. Lyles, producer from Paramount Pictures.

The Annual MMPA Oscar Week Luncheon event benefits The Multicultural Motion Picture Association’s Filmmakers Scholarship Fund.  As a part of the annual afternoon affair, awards are presented annually, to filmmakers selected for their creative achievements, vision and technical talent, and in addition to financial awards toward their tuition, film companies traditionally arrange gifts of technical support for scholarship recipients.

The event is open to the MMPA members and the general public is invited to attend. The organization is selling individual tickets starting at $200 and up and group table tickets from $2500 and up for the lunch and awards show. For more information on how to get your tickets contact the MMPA office at (310)497-4554.

About The Multicultural Motion Picture Association: The MMPA
Is a 501 © 3 non-profit arts organization that provides scholarships annually to a certain number of qualified film students and trade guild apprentices who have shown dedication and talent for furthering their studies in the cinematic arts. The MMPA’s annual Oscar Week Luncheon is always a highly anticipated afternoon event amid sumptuous mid-day dining where talented young filmmakers intermingle with Academy Award® nominees and studio executives. The MMPA utilizes committed individuals who bring their skills and commitment to schools, as well as youth and civic organizations, where teens and young adults need career mentoring, coupled with equipment and technical support. Tips and Tricks to Make you a Better Date

Tips and Tricks to Make you a Better Date

Dating can be quite a challenge for some people, especially if they’ve been out of the dating scene for a while.

Of course, there can be many reasons why you might be out of dating practice. Perhaps you’ve been single for a long time and now decided to change that, or maybe you were in a long-term relationship that’s only recently come to an end.

Either way, the prospect of going through those early dating experiences again can be quite scary. It’s almost like having to go through those awkward teenage years all over again.

One thing that definitely won’t help you in today’s dating world is a lack of confidence. So, why not take a look at the ideas below on how to boost your dating confidence before you dive back into it all?

There are some basic principles when it comes to dating that will help anyone who’s looking for love.

1. Be honest

We all learn as kids that we should always tell the truth, so why treat dating any differently? You may want to pretend you’re a bit younger than you are, or that your job’s a bit more high-powered than it actually is, but if the person you meet on a date becomes a part of your life, will you want to keep up the fibs?

Being honest about who you are and what you believe in will allow you to be more confident – and that in turn will make you more appealing to any potential partner.

2. Don’t let your expectations get out of control

It might be nice to meet the person of your dreams on that first date, but realistically, it’s a slim chance. You might have better odds with the lottery! So instead of putting too much hope on a date, treat it as a social event – a way to meet someone new and have some fun. If it turns out to be the beginning of a new relationship, that’s great. If not, you haven’t lost anything, and you’ll have gotten some dating practice under your belt, ready for the next one.

3. Learn to read the signs

Sometimes, people are so keen for a date to work out well that it’s almost as if they have blinkers on and miss the signals the other person is giving them. Learn to read the signs of what your date thinks of you. The way someone looks at you while you’re talking, the way they move their hands or choose to sit, can all be indications of how they feel about you.

4. Remember, it’s not all about you

People going on a date often focus on what the other person will think of them, and consequently can get quite anxious about what kind of impression they’ll make. To help avoid this, think about what you want to know about your date. What do they do for a living, what do they like doing in their spare time, where would their dream vacation take them? However, you don’t spend the whole night just quizzing each other – so perhaps have a couple of current affairs topics in mind to discuss – it’ll take the pressure off you both.

The most useful advice for anyone going out on a date is to relax and just be yourself. That way, whoever you’re meeting will get to spend a nice evening with you, and get to know you. Wherever the date takes you, it’ll be some dating practice and that experience will be useful for any future dates.
